but it still sucks donkey dick: http://money.cnn.com/2009/05/18/autos/n ... /index.htmWonder if there's something buried in the new regs about motorcycles. Gonna be an interesting "read" once officially released. Estimated increase in cost per vehicle is like $1,300. Something like $47 billion dollars estimated cost for the industry. None of them are arguing since they are so far in Obama's pocket these days. One upside is that at least it kills the idea of different standards for different states, joy, now we'll all be at least as fucked as Kalifornia.

Not that I agree but at least you'll make it up over the lifetime of the vehicle in fuel savings.

I sort of hate when the goverment rams things down poeple's throats - i had to pay a gas guzzler tax on my last 2 M3's ($1k per). I'd much rather live with a system like that that still allows high end performance cars (and bikes) than creating standards that at least with current financially reasonable technologies will lead to another crop of bland and boring cars like what we saw in the 70's and 80's when the industry had to dog out all of the perfomance in order to comply. I'm guessing the next few years will be the last of a glorious age of peformance cars we've seen for about the last decade. I'm sure it will come back again in the future with electric, H, hybrid, what have you but I'm guessing it will be some time till we see "the light" again.

yeah, i believe if its under 22mpg average you get to pay a gas guzzler tax. how much depends on how far under you are. I believe m5's are around $1.5k. funny thing is that I get better gas milage in the M than the WRX. Like 26 on the highway and 17 or so in the city if I keep my foot more or less under control.
