I checked valves a total of 3 times (on 2 different bikes) and only 1 time was everything in spec. The other times it was usually only 1 or 2 valves that were a hair under spec, but I had to adjust them. It was a major PITA for someone with my limited wrench skills...

Oh, and the first time I was off 1 tooth on the timing, luckily no metal to metal contact, but I had to take everything back apart to get it right... :rant:

I haven't had to do it in a long time. I checked my 675 when I had it all apart over the winter and it was in-spec. I'll check it again this winter (fingers crossed).
My R1 does not need to have valves checked till like 28k :thumbup: god bless Yamaha. The trumpet is like every 8k.
