Took the tank off tonight to get ready to paint and thought it would be good time to check/replace air filter. After takeing airbox cover off noticed residue in box around far right "passenger side" velosity stack. Anyone else have this problem? Is it a problem, should I be concernd?

I don't know that bike at all but sounds like breather oil. I used to get some residue in my R1's airbox...not enough to collect just a little residue. No problems with mine.
