It ain't getting any easier. The weekend we just did kicked the living shit out of me. I felt like I was barely holding on to the bike by the end of both days and really badly on Sunday.
I was looking at getting a home gym but I don't really want to start lifting again - I never enjoyed it in the past I'm sure I won't enjoy it now.
I can seem to motivate myself to get back on my bicycles. This would probably be the best workout for riding at the track since it seems to take a lot more lower body strength and endurance than upper body.
I'm going to set my stationary trainer back up and try getting some miles in that way. It's not a lot of fun but its not nearly as time intensive as getting the road bike out and tossing on 40 or 50 miles a day like I used to. My damn driveway really sucks for getting to road bike out. I can't really ride it down through the gravel and I don't feel like walking damn near half a mile to start and finish my rides.
This age thing sucks but I need to start getting back on top of shit if I want to ever be comfortable tossing a 400lb bike around at triple digit speeds.

i usually run 2-3 miles and then lift for 30-45 minutes, 3 times a week and it really helped slow my heart rate down at the track. i very rarely come in breathing heavy. if you dont want to lift weights you could always do more core type exercises

I need to always work out more, even though I did not feel too bad after the track weekend.

If anyone is interested, I have the full set of P90X dvds. It requires a chin up bar, push up bars (if you want them), and some dumbbells. If you stick to them, it takes 3 months to do the program but they will kick your ass.

Im with Junior i run a mile and half twice a week and lift another day of the week. I started over winter and i could tell a big difference between CMP and when we went down to RR, i wasn't breathing nearly as hard and felt pretty good at the end of the day.

I just need to motivate myself to at least do something on a regular basis rather than just sit in front of my computers 24X7. The older you get the hard it becomes to do it.

I was talking to Paul (I think that's his name) at the track. The older gent on the white and red R6. He's 65 and the guy rides like a kid. He's also a cyclist and I think he was less beat up after riding than I was. Guys like that sort of become your "heros" as you get older. You look at him and figure shit I can do this for at least another 2 decades. He said he still riders (cycles) 150 to 200 or so miles a week to keep himself in shape.
Hell Joe did not seem like he was having as hard of a time as I was either and he's 8 years older than me I think.

Just comes down to doing something constructive to stay in shape...
