Hey everyone, haven't posted up in awhile; hopefully this bullshit called winter is over soon. I can't wait to get down to CMP in March but wish I was joining you lucky SOB's at Jennings.

Anyway, I'm debating between keeping the 07 750 strictly a street bike and buying a cheaper 04 for the track or keeping it dual purpose. The 04 has valving done and a Penske triple shock and is considerably cheaper than my current ride which has stock suspension.

Who's ridden both generations the 04/05 and the 06/07 600 or 750 and what did you think as a comparison. My 07 is pretty light and while not as flickable as an R6 feels pretty nimble, the 04/05's seem heavier to me even though the specs don't agree.

And to further complicate things I was also debating the 06+ R6 for track only but am afraid of the motors.

I had an 04 600 which I was not in love with. It feels a lot bigger than an 06/07. I don't think there is much in the way of actual weight difference but it just feels huge in comparison. It actually felt bigger than my R1.
Mine was a good bike, till Eli wrecked it a few times :). But it would not be my first choice at all. I'd go the 06/07 route or an R6 07 on if you can swing it.
Thought you were in love with the whole "cheater bike" 750 thing :biglaugh:

On the 04/05's you have to watch out for the STVA problems with bad solder joints/connections. There are a few threads on the common gsxr forums.

Oh I still love the cheater, its the only way I can keep up with the rest of you guys, haha. I'm more bored than anything else (not w/ the bike, bored with winter). So I was looking around and found a good price on an 04 and also a couple of R6's.

I haven't ridden an 04 on the track but I know what you mean about it feeling huge. I think I'll stick with the 06/07 just because its a blast.

Hey Tib, thanks for that...off topic but are you planning on getting back out on the track this season? If you are what bike did you decide on?

dont for get the 06-7 has a slipper from the factory, and larger front rotors it makes about 6 hp more (750 ) and 10 more (600) the suspension on the later models is better from the factory but if it isnt stock it dosnt matter
