Vesrah Suzuki Team Owner Mark Junge Says He Was Defrauded Out Of Two GSX-R600s With Spare Engines And Parts By A “Buyer” Using A Fraudulent Cashier’s Check

By David Swarts

Vesrah Suzuki Team Owner Mark Junge now says that he didn’t think twice when he was contacted via e-mail by a man who said he was based in Florida, used the name Ty Lewis and said he wanted to buy two retired Vesrah GSX-R600 AMA Pro-spec racebikes, extra engines and spare parts. But according to Junge, what appeared to be just another normal business deal has turned into a $30,000 nightmare.

“We sell bikes like this all the time,” Junge told Roadracingworld.com. “The check showed up on Monday [April 25], and we crated the bikes up and shipped them out on Tuesday [April 26]. And it ended up being a fraudulent check. It looked good. It looked really good.

“Nancy [Junge’s wife] noticed the amount of the check was deducted back out of the account, so she called the bank and they told her the check was bad. So we have a new policy: We wait seven days for the check to clear--no matter what--before shipping out the bike.”

Mark Junge said he shipped the bikes, engines and parts to Chesapeake, Virginia, at Lewis’ request because Lewis said he needed to pick up another bike there. And while the shipping invoice was paid for by Lewis’ business, Mobile Tech Racing, the shipping company told Junge a man who presented a Virginia driver’s license identifying himself as Trivillus Harris actually picked up the shipment.

Junge immediately notified law enforcement officials at his base in Union Grove, Wisconsin, who in turn notified law enforcement agencies in Chesapeake and Northhampton County, Virginia. In fact, at one point Junge said he was able to get Lewis on the phone, and Lewis spoke directly to the police in Wisconsin.

“The guy told a good story to the cops,” said Junge, “and he [Junge’s local Sheriff] gave him a week to come up with the check and he didn’t, nothing. Now, they have filed charges. The bikes were already listed as stolen. Now they’re trying to find him and the bikes.

“They [law enforcement in Virginia] know where he is, but they don’t have the bikes yet. And at this point, I think he bought enough time that I don’t think I’m getting the bikes back.”

In addition to AMA Pro-level engines and an extensive spare parts package, Junge says he is out of a 2009-model GSX-R600 (VIN# JS1GN7EA892101079) and a 2008-model GSX-R600 (VIN# JS1GN7EA382100047).

The 2009 Suzuki is an ex-Chris Fillmore Daytona SportBike machine with Vesrah Suzuki’s own custom Daytona 200 quick-change equipment on it, including a pipe for a center-lift stand mounted across the engine behind the radiator, special swingarm stand lifting points and a dry break connector in the fuel tank.

The 2008 GSX-R600 was wearing 148 on its white number plates. Both bikes were fitted with yellow and black Hotbodies Racing bodywork, Vortex clip-ons and rearsets, Graves exhaust systems, Penske shocks, Traxxion Dynamics-equipped forks and Dunlop DOT-labeled race tires.

Roadracingworld.com attempted to reach Ty Lewis Monday afternoon at his Florida cell phone number, but the phone went straight to voicemail. A voice message was left, but Lewis has not returned the call.

Searches on the Internet for Ty Lewis and Mobile Tech Racing came up empty, but a Google search for “Trivillus Harris” found multiple hits regarding allegations of people being defrauded out of motorcycles. That search also led to a business by the name of Mobile Technologies Customs & Racing. That business has a website that claims it is located in Miami Beach, Florida, and one of the phone numbers listed on the website is the same as the phone number for Lewis that Junge provided to Roadracingworld.com.

The thread on www.cccsforum.com lists another alias for Trivillus Harris as Trivillus Lewis, a name that can be found listed in CCS race results dating back to 2005.

Update:

Reached by phone while off-duty, Racine County (Wisconsin) Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Butler told Roadracingworld.com, “There were two motorcycles that were sold to the gentleman [Ty Lewis], and he [Junge] was given a fraudulent check that bounced. The guy [Lewis] said he was sending him checks to replace the old ones, but the person who sold the bikes [Junge] hasn’t received the checks yet.”

Asked what other agencies were working on the case, Butler said “There’s really no other agency we’re working with right now. Once it goes to the detectives it will go through the Florida agencies, Miami, I believe, because that’s where the people who bought the bike are from, Miami. So we’ll be working with them.”

Anyone with information on this case can call the Racine County Sheriff’s Department at (262) 636-3213 and reference report # 11-17363.
