Looks like the new BMW S1000RR is going to be a decent deal... MSRP is US $13,800. Available options include motorsport paint scheme for $750, ABS for $1,000, ABS+Dynamic Traction Control for $1450, quick shifter for $459.

14,200 rpm redline, according to RoadRacing World it dyno'd at 179 rwhp and a 09 GSXR 1000 on the same dyno at 162 rwhp

Not bad in track trim

but it's still damn ugly in street plastics...

the street side view ain't too bad, just that damn headlight set up...

That said, should be a hell of a trackwhore for those looking to have 1k for the track. Traction control, abs, different maps, etc. could be fun but I'm way too much of a puss to take a 1000 to the track.

Looks like a GSXR / R6 Tail smooshed together with ZX bodywork up front and a honda prolink swingarm.

I actually don't mind the headlight...it's different...every bike now looks too cookie cutter...at least it's got something different.

I read in the AMA mag that the engineers where told they were to make this bike the best of everything and keep it within $1000 of the average sportbike on the market.

my other big issue would be that it is a BMW which means a couple of things:

A. First year buyers will be BETA testers
B. Parts will be idiotically expensive and hard to get
C. There will be no aftermarket support for the bike, at least initially
D. Service will be limited to minimum wage children at BMW dealerships

other than that it's all good, well except for the ugly part, lol.
