I've been pondering the possibility of getting a new bike next year. My plan would be to trade in / sell the RR and get something new that would pull double-duty on the track and street. The thought of tossing away a $10K - $12K motorcycle, especially on the track has me thinking about insurance. What are your thoughts / experiences with insurance on the track? I currently have Progressive and per my policy, I should be covered at the track. It basically says that I'm covered on a closed course as long as I'm not in a competitive environment, racing, at a timed event, or, a contest of speed. Has anyone had to deal with Progressive on a track related incident? I have all my other insurance through Liberty Mutual and have so for years. I'd be willing to switch everything over if there were a particular provider that was better than the others. State Farm is the one I hear about the most.

When I asked my State Farm agent about it, she said that it's not covered which is different than what i've heard about State Farm. It might depend on agent and insurance company.
When I had Progressive years ago and asked, they said No, that a track is still a track where there is elevated risk.
Just give them a call and if they say it's covered, ask for it in writing.

just to add to the discussion, has anyone had experience trying to insure a salvage title bike beyond just liability coverage?

SF was not overly interested in insuring my 675 which is a salvage titles but since it's just a track bike the point was moot anyway. It has comp on it.

I didnt just "hear" it, I asked the rider insurance rep when I was at an open house and he looked up their policy on it. So I got it straight from the horses mouth When I went with them on the yellow r6 it was around $360 full coverage for the year with $250 deductibles on both sides with 100/100/50 coverage and I believe it was 5k of accessories coverage that covers your gear as well. I was very happy with them customer service was good, nice and easy to deal with. Plus mike rider coaches get a discount and Tib I believe they give you a discount for just switching to them and I think if you have the brc or erc you get more of a discount.
