Yep I'm thinking 04+ gsxr750 or an 02-03 R1. It'll be two months before I get everything sold and find something but ohh well.

I hear the 09 is a good year :fact . All kidding aside that's a massive bummer man, but the good news is stuff goes fast on WERA. If I was going to buy another trackwhore, I'd check out crankyape.com or one of the other salvage places that has a good rep on WERA...I have a thread bookmarked over there if you want it. I saw a Duc 848 on crankyape that pretty much all it needed to ride on track would have been plastics and a new lever go for just over $4k I think.

Yeah I have been watching the forums too....I need to sell off this stuff first so I can find out where i'm at. I just posted it all up at the R1-forum and WERA. Nate has my tires and woodcraft pegs on hold until he talks to the wife so i'll be back out there soon. Probably about 2 months.

yeah it's still bothering me because i'm wondering if there was something out of adjustment suspension wise that I could have adjusted to decrease the more severe headshake. I re-adjusted everything after switching to track only. Who knows...

i know how you feel - after i beefed my SV i spent way too much time looking at what "caused" the wreck. never really found anything to explain it other than i was in over my head and i fucked up (this was on the street riding way too hard). not saying that's the case in you rwreck at all but just that it's human nature to look for why something like this happened.

did you change the ride height on the bike when you rebuilt it for the track? particularly lower the front or raise the rear? maybe a bit taller rear tire? these would lead to shortening trail and making the bike less stable. maybe something with the dampener? i remember you had to get a new mount.

in the end it may have just been the way you came up over the rise onto the straight. you could probably do it a thousand times and never have the same combination of crap. the track was pretty "green" and slippery in places. the bike does like to get light there - i cna wheelie off the hill just by leading back a bit (there's a great pic of Buck doing it on Ray's site). it does not take much to get a little bit of unloading up front there, especially on a ton, setting it down a bit off line and then bad things...

seriously, the biggest things is that you walked away from ONE HELL of a wreck.

Did you check for loose steering bearings?
