Honestly I was just a rolling road block yesterday. I think saying RUSTY would be the understatement of the year. I don't think that I ever got out of the 8's all day. Not sure since my timer did not work till the last 2 sessions for some reason. Even looking at my pics I'm just sitting up on the bike like some noob in his first B group session. I think I have video from 3 or 4 sessions, I guess I'll see what the times were like there. Just not my day all the way around.
On the other hand I still had a great time! A slow day at the track is still a hell of a lot better than just about anything else I can think of. EMP ran a good show with the exception of probably being a lad lax with throwing reds and leaving bikes laying in some pretty precarious places after incidents.
Matt's pass was not nearly as bad as he makes it sound. I appreciate the apology but it really was not needed. I would have probably been pissed if I was stuck behind someone riding like I was yesterday too.
Matt and Pat were really flying out there - you guys have picked up a ton of speed. Ben too! Ken, the guy on the Buell is sick fast as was the guy on the tricked out Duc with the funky exhaust - I think he was from Euro Motors. Nice to finally meet Mook in person too.
Joe glad you made it. I guess you passing me like I was standing still was sort of payback for last time :-)
Ben - thanks a bunch for letting me mooch power. Was a pleasure pitting with you.
John, Mike(?) - you guys both looked good out there. Pretty respectable times John for your first time out at Beaver.
All in all it was a hectic weekend, sort of a reflection of how my whole summer has been between health issues with my dad and some very serious bullshit with work. The jammed bolt on my Durango and getting up at 5 to drive in were sort of the cherry on top. I have to also thank my brother-in-law Bob for lending me his truck at the last moment. Very cool of him.
Anyway, was great to get out there with a good group of guys as always! Looking forward to NJMP.

I always have a blast riding with the fellow Trackwhores and yesterday was no exception. We have a good group of guys on here for sure.

Similar to Matt the closer I got to the track the more wet the roads were and I was worried the whole morning would be a wet surface. I know Beav's got grip in the wet but my confidence having taken a hit recently I didn't need any additional distractions. So the first session I sat out and watched a guy go down in 7 on the first lap.

The second session I went out and kind of took it easy for awhile to get a feel for how the DOT's were going to do on the semi wet surface, I only got loose one time coming onto the front straight outside of the "rubber" that had been layed down evidently by cars that had been drag racing on the track the day before.

By the third session the track was mostly dry but my lap timer still wasn't picking up the beacon and figured out when I came into the pits that it wouldn't turn on at all. Tried a new battery and still nothing. So I figured I'd just keep the camera pointed to the front and check my times after.

After wishing I didn't eat the free hot dog and hamburger for lunch the afternoon went really well. For some reason the slower guys seemed to thin out and those that were left were predictable and I had no issues getting past them or close calls. I kept trying to tag onto the back of Matt and Pat but traffic would get in the way or I would blow a corner and then I couldn't make any ground up. The last session of the day was by far the most fun for me, I was behind Pat for about 6 laps total, 2 laps were working through traffic and then 4 laps I kept him in sight until I got lazy on the back straight and then he just checked out. But those four laps I ran the fastest I've ever done at the Beav. According to the frame by frame video review I did three consecutive 1:05:8's (weird) followed by a 1:05:7. I'm pleased with that but its hard to think of a place where I can pick up more time. I'll post a video of those laps and maybe the flyers we have on here can pick something out.

Honestly though the in between sessions was the most fun part of the day. i.e. Standing along the fence with Mike, Joe and Matt watching the circus that was B group...and by circus I mean a 'Busa with a nitrous bottle, a V-Max, and a BMW S1000RR CR towing a GS.

Mike was not a road block like he says and with a long hiatus its expected not to be turning personal bests.

My stinking GoPro appears to be not saving the entire file when I stop it, my longest clip I have is 10min and the last half of every session is just gone, it will randomly stop mid-straight or mid-corner  . So looks like that's going to have to go back to the manufacturer too.

Well, I post this not to intentionally embarrass myself, but as a public service to any lurkers out there marveling at the lap times posted above! I will, however, throw out the disclaimer that this is my first year with a motorcycle and despite putting a decent amount of miles on (7K+) since March, I am still very much a newbie.

As Mike alluded above, this was my first day at BeaveRun and would be my fourth track day total (3 previous with TPM in their white/beginner class) - still running my Buell XB9SX totally stock. Based on word of mouth that the beginner group would be VERY beginner, I signed up for intermediate. The track was quite wet and seeing the 'A' guy go down first lap out was a bit disconcerting, but I wanted to at least get out there and try to learn a decent line around the track. Coming in, I was wondering if I had picked the wrong class as I felt pretty much like a rolling roadblock - at least until Joe pointed me to the parade that was the B class - I figured I 'd just have to suck it up and get moving! I spent the rest of the morning trying to get the line down a bit better - thanks to Joe and Mike for all the pointers - and tried not to think about the lap times too much, though Mike was 'kind' enough to let me know I was running a dog slow sub 1:30!! :finger:

As the afternoon went on, I tried to focus on a decent body position, stopped soft pedaling the straights and actually was able to stay on pace with most the of guys in the group through 2-3-4-5. I was getting passed a lot less and even managed to catch a few folks. My 6th and 7th sessions both had consistent strings of laps in the low 1:20's with at least one or two in the high 1:19's (my handheld gps times aren't accurate to much less than a second). Looking at my pictures and thinking back on the day, I'm leaving a ton of time by not consistently maxing out my cornering - while I felt decent in some areas, I'm sure I was not cornering as hard as I could have been through 1-2 or 6-7-8 or even 11-12.

All in all a great day - we even had a decent ride home with minimal traffic. Sorry I didn't get to talk to more of you guys, but I'm sure I'll be out again soon enough!

P.S. Mike/Joe - the towns that bracket Rt839 are Dayton and New Bethlehem - definitely good stuff!

Well you did ask what you were running :-) Nice improvement through out the day
Look at it this way, while you were cutting your lap times I was increasing mine

Funny to hear the same sort of pain in your voice as I used to have with my SV. Better yet was listening to Mook talk fondly about his old 1st gen SV and turning 1:02's with it at Beaver

That's Aaron Borello and he is indeed very quick. He runs #724 in WERA. I'm not sure if he's sponsored by Euromoto, or a just a friend of Lee's...

Is that his 1098, I though it was his 848, but you might be right. I believe he has both, the 848 may be silver. He also had a Paul Smart at one time, but I believe he sold that...
