Any (real) advantage in traction, wear, etc. for a hack like me over DOT's?

they make you look cool

I have no idea but maybe more traction due to less sipping?

at my pace I need all the "cool" factor I can get :toocool:

seriously though I'm assuming traction is good but I wonder what the wear is like on something like say Pirelli Super Bike Pro's?

I just switched to the Super Bike Pro's = I like them so far.

Three days on them and wear seems good. I think these are made from a harder compound than hard-core slicks for improved wear.

Also happy with the grip although I'm not as fast as most of you guys.

The only drawback is I won't use them in wet track conditions.

And they certainly do look cool.

Just did the last 3 days on the Dunlop slicks and wow they grip lke nothing I've used before. I kept twisting harder nad harder out of the corners till I couldn't finish a turn with the front on the ground. Even did a few wet laps at the Beav and they held great. Beav is known for it's wet traction though. THe price is a bit stupid and the wear is perhaps a bit better, but with the added grip I kept twisting harder on the throttle so that may negate the extended wear but the times will come down so not a bad thing

I've been reading up on the "track day" slick and not really getting a lot of great feedback from the faster types.
I may go with a set of 211GPA's instead.

The full race slicks always get great feedback but the price sort of sucks.
Dave, how much of those NTecs is left after 3 days on them?

I'm planning on a fourth day but probably not more than that. That's probably the equivalent of 5-6 days for most I/A riders due to the extra sessions

So do you guys want to run slicks because of the better wear or are you actually pushing the limits of DOTs?

better wear - certainly not pushing the limits of DOT's - the Pirelli "track day slick" is supposed to hold up well but the reviews while confirming that part don't really have anything wonderful to say so far as traction goes.
