so this is my thoughts on the Michelin Power Ones.

most of you know i was die hard pirelli and then conti. well after having some troubles on my old bike with tires tearing and what not i decided to get a new bike. logical, i know. so with this new bike i figured i would try new tires. so i went out on a limb and tried the Michelin Power Ones. I was always sketchy about Michelins because I havent always heard the best things about them, but i did hear a lot of positive about the power ones. The tires i ran were a 190/120 combo, C rear ( essentially a medium compiound) and the V front which is triangulated. Michelin says to set the pressures cold, but i set them hot after talking to jiggy. cold is around 22R/29F, but i went with 28R/32F HOT. i paid 380 for the set from the wera distributor.

first session i immediately liked the tires, i went out and took off from the start and the tires stuck great. throughout the day as i picked up my pace the tires never once lost grip. i didnt spin the rear or slide the front at all. the front was what impressed me the most. since its triangulated it has a huge contact patch at full lean. this tire LOVES to be on the edge. i was trailbraking into the decreasing right in the back section so hard that i was sure it was going to tuck, but it never did. it was incredibly stable at full lean, where as with the pirellis, once i got to full lean, i didnt want to lean much further becuase the tires never really felt super solid to me. with the V front once i hit my knee i just kept going further and it was rock solid. it was pretty incredible. since its so pointy, turn in was very fast and going from full lean left to right was very quick. feedback from the front and rear was good as well

the wear was also very good. i can get another day out of the tire if i flip it, so thats 3 days. if we werent at a track that had two turns where you are leaned over on the gas for a long time, i might be able to squeeze 4 days out with flipping. the front wears faster then the pirelli front, but i could still get 4 or 5 days out of it, which works for me. the tires hardly look work at all. i was also running 3 seconds a lap faster and the tires felt way more planted then the pirellis on the gixxer.

overall im very impressed with these tires and i will continue to run them

I'll say it again...Michelins are the $hit :thumbup:

When we mounted those tires I remember you saying you were suprised how pointed the front tire was...glad to see that you liked the profile after all.

The V front is a great tire! I've ridden the standard as well and I like it too, but prefer the V.

i think you should at least give them a try. i wasnt expecting to like them as much as i did. i really really liked them though.

I haven't run the V front, just regular race attacks. I wouldn't say I like them more than the pirelli's, but had heard bad things and after using them definitely they weren't as bad as everyone made them out to be. And for the price you can get a V front/power race rear, they are the best deal on the block.
