I thought I read the PB unit was rated at like 69 or 70 db. I read some reviews of a smaller UST and they were not impressive, citing reliability concerns. I may just save up and get a smaller Honda and let my stable mate fend for himself.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1500-Watt-Gasoline- ... %26ps%3D63That's the one Matt and I have - like I said earlier no real issues and it's actually "reasonably" quiet. For like $175 it's really hard to go wrong.... It does fine with one set of warmers (I have Woodcraft digitals).

Thanks for the linkage, I will keep that one in mind. I am going to check the local HD to see what they have in stock also. On another note I found this db level chart interesting.
Decibel level What we hear
10 dB Normal breathing
20 dB Rustling leaves, mosquito
30 dB Whisper
40 dB Stream, refrigerator humming
50-60 dB Quiet office
50-65 dB Normal conversation
60-65 dB Laughter
70 dB Vacuum cleaner, hair dryer

Prolonged exposure to any noise above 85 dB can cause gradual hearing loss.

Regular exposure of more than 1 minute risks permanent hearing loss.

I went (pre)shopping today for generators. I found out Northern Tool has the All Power 3250w on sale Friday for $199. I am going to drop the hammer and get one. It is rated at 68 db, not much louder than the ones you guys are snagging off eBay. Here is a link from Sportsmans Guide cuz it has most of the specs on it. Thanks guys for all the pointers and clues! 2500w continuous power, I should be able to run 2 sets of warmers and a couple of fans.

Questions for you people who have purchased the Made in China generators.
At the carburetor, the mixture screw is glued in place and won't allow adjustment. Is yours that way too?
Reason I ask is mine will only start with the choke ON, no matter how long it has been running or what the weather is, hot or cold.. Is yours that way too?
