Questions for you people who have purchased the Made in China generators.

At the carburetor, the mixture screw is glued in place and won't allow adjustment. Is yours that way too?

Reason I ask is mine will only start with the choke ON, no matter how long it has been running or what the weather is, hot or cold.. Is yours that way too?

Mine does not like to start without the choke...

Just go out and buy the Honda 2000i. I picked mine up at Northern Tool the day after Thanksgiving for $809. In a situation like this, you really want to spend the money and not cheap out. Just like tirewarmers, you want it to last a long time.

For me, not only will it be for trackdays. But, I'll also be using it for camping, and when I'm camping overnight for racing motocross. I'm also planning on using it for the occasional times we lose power at the house (sometimes as many as 16 times a season for more than 4 hours ).

I almost got the Honda but then decided that for the little i'll use the thing the $170 deal will work OK. So far so good. There are like 3 or 4 of us here running the cheap-ass ebay jobs.

The Honda is damn nice but to use like half a dozen times a year or so just did not make sense. $809 is a damn good price one

Be careful with the cheaper ones. Many times they don't have any kind of decent regulation in them and could spike the output. I'd recommend getting a quality surge protector such as from APC and then you're a little better protected. I picked up a handful of APC surge protectors for about $6 each the other week. So, I'll be keeping one in the van for when I use the generator as well as my converter.

That may not be a bad idea. The warmers themselves may be pretty durable, but the digital controllers could be damaged.

Just one more thing to drag to the track......

You may want to bring the surge strip anyways in case you either camp overnight or want to plug something else in such as a radio and you don't have enough outlets (provided you don't go over the limit of the generator of course).

This is the one I bought recently: https://www.apcc.com/resource/include/t ... se_sku=P6M It was $7 at Micro Center. Wound up buying four or five of them. I'll keep one or two in my van as that's what I use to haul my bikes with.
