hey mike, remember the discussion we had about me getting a new truck? now you understand why i was looking at the 6.0 L 3/4 ton Chevy with all the towing goodies.

Besides the brake controller and trans cooler, don't forget about your suspension. My brother in law always complained about his Durango swimming all over the road when pulling his horse trailer. It seemed to pull fine and stop fine, but didn't handle the greatest. I'm not sure how much weight he was pulling though.

I'm thinking a toy houler is probably a bit of a waste, at least one small enough to be OK with my Durango...
So an enclosed trailer? I just want something I can haul a pair of bikes with, toss an air bed in at night, etc.

Any of these a good trailer/deal?

Mike, you wont have any trouble pulling a trailer but i think having brakes on them is a nice feature. you can add brakes to any trailer if you want to upgrade later.

another thing is to get a trailer the same height as the tow vehicle, this saves alot of gas.

If you are down this way, you can take my trailer for a drive and see how you like it.

thanks lee - how big is yours? it's a dual axle isn't it?
any of those seem like a fair deal?

mine is a 7x12. room for 2 bikes and all our gear. it is wide though and so i have a huge blind spot. i am going to put a cheap backup camera on it to fix that problem. Duel axle is nice, pulls/rides better but not necessary. a duel axle will have brakes though.

those CL listings looked OK, not a great deals but OK. There are new trailers being sold at dealers cost around here. also the last 2 had the same pics, prolly a dealer.

there is alot of things to look for and a big range in quality.

Mike i would suggest atleast a 6x10 if not a 6x12, you will run out of room fast. With mine i can haul 3 bikes and still have room to throw some gear in there. Not to mention if you sleep in it you will want the extra space.

Trailer brakes might be nice but then your getting inspections also, we upgraded the brakes on the truck and have plenty of stopping power. Not to mention an extra axle is more toll money also.

I paid 3K for my 6x12 and it came with led tail lights, diamond plate rock guard and polished side panels. 2700 seems a bit steep for a 5x8

That one that shows a 5X8 is actually a 6X14 - he just posted a picture of the 5X8 since it looks the same or so he says in the ad. he never replied to me either way.

I looked at a few new ones this afternoon. 6X12's and 7X12's - I like the 7X12 I looked at BUT I don't like the price, $3500 ($3800 OTD). It has brakes though. 6X12's are running about the same where I looked as in the links you PM'd me.

I want to look at the 6X15 in the last link above. I called the guy and he claims he only used it to haul crap from Florida to here. He seemed prety set on the price though. He's out of town till tomorrow.

i got my trailer used, it is a top of the line haulmark that was initially sold for $6400. I picked it up for $2700 plus ttt.

If you arnt in a rush and keep searching you can find good deals, i did but i was thinking about buying from here and picking it up at the haulmark factory in PA.

lee, yours is just about perfect but finding one for what you paid for it is likely a hell of a challange. if i saw one for that price i'd be there with cash in hand.
like i said above, i want to look at that 6x15 in the next couple of days see what what i thik. he's asking like 2750 which does not seem too bad and he claims it's basically brand new. i'm guessing if it's nice and i can talk him down a bit on price i may snag it.
i'd like to have a bit of extra room in there for a tool box, maybe a cabinet or two, etc.
7' wide really looks a hell of a lot wider in person though.

oh, and that new avitar of yours :boobies:
