ill just reiterate a few point kyle made. like kyle said, theres a big thread on the WERA forum about hotbodies bodywork and they are supposed to be pretty good now.

levers, case cover, clipons, rearesets- those guys pretty much nailed it

i agree with kyle about lap timers. IMO you dont really need lap timer at a trackday, but if you do decide to get one just mount it so you cant see the screen so you dont try to chase times. XT is the way to go though and its pretty much what everyone has :thumbup:

I have been doing all my trackdays on a street bike. i have just taped and disconnected the lights.
The mods i had done were to improve or repair.

The suspension was done, forks resprung, revalved. new rear shock. all set up for my weight and tuned over the days as needed until i liked it. This was the best mod i did.

Brake lines, pads and a good bleeding. I have found Vehsra RJL's to be the best.

Stomp grips are a must.

frame slider, (woodcraft) these saved my bike the first time it went down.

Chain and sprockets. It was worn out so i replaced it and changed the gearing at the same time.

woodcraft stator cover, the stock was damaged in a crash.

Tires tire and more tires, the faster you get, the faster they wear out.

In all reality the best money spent is on seat time. Do as many track days as you can afford to.

If you dont already know, used parts can be found on the WERA bbs. sometimes they are a great buy.

i have done a few trackdays on it as a streetbike and it works good. the only thing is that if i go down on a bike that i like to ride on the street i will be alot more upset then if it was just a track bike. i will probably be a little upset that i dont have a bike for the street but i have so much more fun on the track then i do on the street. if i want to ride on the street my grandfather has an extra Harley I can ride. it was actually what i started with on the street. down the road i would like to buy another bike for the street. thanks for all the help guys. i was thinking about the lap timer and just putting some painters tape over the screen so i cant see the time while riding if it become a problem.

i would like to work on my suspension but i dont know where to start. can you point me in the right direction?

You could start here: viewtopic.php?f=57&t=238 - more than enough to keep you "entertained" for a LONG time :-)

So far as a lap timer, you have the option whether you want to see it running or not while on track. I let it display only when I'm running my camera so that it shows in the video. Actually a pretty good tool to match up with a vid to see what/how you were doing during a given session.

I agree with madski, i would just let the CR's work on your suspension, do not try and adjust thigns if you have no idea what they do.

Kaley is really good with suspension, he will be working on mine during the off season. Also buck can help you get squared away.

Karns did mine with a basic base line. Buck then tweaked it at beaver then Todd tweaked it alittle more at summit. after that it was good.

You should get the sag done before you go to the track though.

Really if you have no clue im sure we can all give you a hand friday night and get the sag set for you and then saturday let buck or todd or kaley or anyone setup the rest.

Don't get to worked up, the biggest thing is to show up and come with an open mind. The rest will fall into place. :thumbup:

:wstupid: You're more than welcome to pit with the rest of the idiots here (myself included) - we'll be glad to let Jr. wrench on your bike :thumbup:

Seriously Lee and I can get your sag set in 10 minutes or so. Just make sure you have the wrench from your tool kit for your shock - I'm not sure if it takes a spanner or what.
Let Todd or Buck mess with it for another 10 minutes after a session or two with the sag correctly set and some idea as to what it's doing for you and you'll be golden.
