i like my a*s smx-r's but the vortex on my R1 and previously on the SV have basically destroyed the sole under the ball/toe area.
was thinking about getting the new sidi with the bolt in sole piece that is supposed to address this - hate the price through.
any one try the new sidi yet?

For sure an expensive boot. The Vortice has done very well for sure, the only issue is really if you have a wide foot. The Sidi boots are pretty narrow.

I've always had Sidi cycling shoes so I'm pretty sure their last works for me. I wear a 9.5 D in a dress shoe and 43 Euro Sidi cleats have always worked well.
I love my A*s but I have a bad feeling I'm going to go through the sole in a few more track days. The right boot has about a 1/2" divit there already.
Both of the track bikes now have Woodcrafts. The road bike still has Votrex rearsets. I'm tempted to get something like Sato or Graves for the R1 and solve the boot eating problem before I get new boots.

The vortex are extremely rough on boots, anything is better.

Both are great companies, my only issue with Gilles is that they only make the VCR for that bike, and they suck. I would for sure get the Sato's or the CRG's.

The Gilles VCR's have pretty much toast in the event of a crash, although they look fancy and work good. Hold up is poor.

thanks Nick!

can you PM me a price for the Sato - I really hate the idea of spending that much though. Maybe I'll just get a set of Woodcrafts and be done with it

anyone else make a peg for Vortex that's not like a bloody cheese grinder?
