looking to get some new gear when i get home, atleast boots and gloves. looking around at different stuff. trying to find some good stuff for reasonable prices. i like the sidi vertigos but dont know if i can justify 300. i have also been looking at some of the cheaper A* boots. im the same way with gloves. i know you guys like those phantoms but theyre pricey and im cheap. anyone else have a decent pair of gloves that are comfortable and hold up?

leathers im not sure about. iv been lifting a ton and have gained a good amount of weight and im not sure if my old leathers will fit. they were skin tight when i left. theyre tekinc chicane and i like them alot so im thinking if i have to get new ones i might just stick with them. iv also been looking at the A* octane and sg1. justin i know you have owned both the A* and the teknic what are your thoughts?

Can't say much on gloves, I'm sold on Held's and no they are not cheap.
I liked my SM-X Plus A*s boots and I just ordered a set of A*s Supertech R's from STG. I tore a hole through the sole on the SM-X Plus from my rearsets. Otherwise they are still in good shape. You can find them for well under $300, call Nick @ STG for a price. He's been awesome at taking care of guys. Tell him you're from here. I got the Supertechs just to try something new.
On leathers, I'd wait and see if you can fit in your old ones - no reason to run out and get another set when you have a good set at home. That said I really like my MX-1 suit.

All i can say is, you get what you pay for. Don't skimp on your gear.

If you like the teknic suits...you should check out the teknic violator. I have that, and I think Lee picked himself up one also, and sadly he just recently tried his out, and he said it held up well @ a 90+ mph crash. And I know justin has tried out his suits also. haha. I know STG has some decent deals when you can catch the closeout sales. The RS Taichi gloves are a really nice fit and comfortable,,,but seem to be made a lil cheap. If i had the money i would get the Held gloves, but cant swing the price. I have the A star S-MX R boots and I like them. They are on close out @ STG. They are a good boot in my opinion for around 150-190. But i have not had near as many diff types of gloves suits and boots as some of these guys on here so I would take their word before mine.

i dont plan to get a new suit till i try mine on, im just bored now with my broken hand they had to bench me for a couple weeks. gotta do sumthin to keep me sane while i listen to war stories from all the toc rats who never leave the wire. ill probably end up just getting the held gloves. and probably the sidi boots. especially if i dont need a new suit.

another thing, my helmet has been dropped/fell off of my bike multiple times. there are some good size chips in it, one about dime sized. i know theyre techically only good for one impact. thats a pretty risky guessing game to play, what you think?

i wouldnt skimp on gloves since your first instinct is to put your hands out if you crash. either way if you stick to name brand stuff and go with their mid-high priced products, you should be fine
