Looks like they are letting me down. I did crash them early last year but I just noticed the hole in the picture below.

I think I'm going to get a set of these next

After my wreck last weekend, I need a new pair of gloves. I wrecked a pair of the middle range Held's (I think they were aorund $150) and they did a good job.

So I've narrowed it down to either Held Phantoms or A* GP Tech. I would go with the Phantoms in a heartbeat, but I can get the GP Tech for $100 cheaper.

Any opinions or thoughts?

my A* gp techs have held up very well, been using them since May 08, had 2 crashes with them and they are still in good condition.

you can get Phantoms for $235 delivered (call nick) so it's pretty close to the A*s. I bought a set of GP Techs last year but sold them almost unused. I could not get used to the really stiff cuff they use. The Held's felt much better to me.
If I don't get a set of the Heroics I'll get another set of Phantoms.

I just spent about a half an hour on the phone with Todd from Heroic - I'm deffinately going to get a set of his gloves (see pic above).
From talking to Lars @ the r1-forum and my conversation with Todd it seems like a hell of a glove for the same money (or less) than Phantoms or GP Techs. The design makes more sense than either too.
Todd can do custom stuff for like an extra $30. I think I'm going to have him put trackwhores.com on the cuffs for me :-)

I gave up trying to throw money at Heroic so I ordered as set of Held Titans yesterday. Should have them tomorrow - pretty stoked to try them out

the saga continues...
got the Titans this AM - tried them on and just don't like the fit/feel. They feel more bulky than Phantoms. I'm guessing they may offer a bit more protection but I just don't like the additional bulk and the pair I got are a hair too big as well.
called Nick and he's just going to send me another pair of Phantoms. i guess rocking the boat was not worth the effort. Phantom still rocks and STG has awesome customer service
