Stupid question, but do these basically require tire warmers...or is that a personal preference on these?

Tires need warmers to go fast on lap one. If you don't have them you need to warm them up the old fashioned way by going out a bit slower and progressively adding speed. Tires do generally wear a bit better no warmers but they are not a nescesity

i'm not a fan of 2ct's (at all) but the thing for me about DOT's is probably more mental than anything else. track is a confidence thing and the biggest thing you have to "believe" in are your tires. i've never tried these but that's one hell of a price.

I've been running DOT's for the last few years sans warmers. Keep it dialed down to 75% - 80% for the first 1 - 2 laps and then drop the hammer. I do however believe that warmers are a good investment. I've only done 3 days with warmers, but I can already see a difference in the way my tires wear. Without warmers my rear tire would go off while there was still a decent amount of tread left. So far with the warmers my rear tire seems to have good grip all the way to the end. Besides that, the tread doesn't seem to wear down as quickly when using the warmers...

for me warmers are a confidence thing just like DOT's. i only got them after getting bumped to I with nesba and I did not like the pace at which some of the CR's were taking us out the first few laps on cold tires - again probably just in my head but knowing my tires are warm from the word go makes me feel a hell of a lot better. i can't comment on wear as yet since i've only ran warmers once and on a set of SC's that were ready for the garbage pile.

My experience with the 2CT's were okay...On the street they last alot of miles but the rear will spin up since you can't get them warm enough. On the track they were fine, but I prefer the regular PP's more. madski wrote: for me warmers are a confidence thing just like DOT's. i only got them after getting bumped to I with nesba and I did not like the pace at which some of the CR's were taking us out the first few laps on cold tires - again probably just in my head but knowing my tires are warm from the word go makes me feel a hell of a lot better. i can't comment on wear as yet since i've only ran warmers once and on a set of SC's that were ready for the garbage pile. I have ran regular PP's and 2CT's in both "B" and "I", my last time out at Beaver was running consistant 1:06's in "I" with 2CT's. Now one of the CR's from our last session was discussing moving to "A" in the next 1 or 2 trackdays and said to move up my pace safetly and get the bump I would basically need a DOT tire. I have all the confidence in the world with PP's and medium conficence with 2CT's and they have served me well.

I really noticed the CR's getting after it on the first lap at the NESBA day at BVR. I was not running warmers at the time and was not comfortable running that pace on the first 1 - 1.5 laps. Warmers will definitely help in that regard...
